Partnership Appreciation Picnic

Today we attended the Annual Partnership Appreciation Picnic. The picnic was an opportunity for the non-profit organizations in the grand valley to come together and honor the organizations they partner with. The non-profits were encouraged to bring a guest from an agency they partner with. The picnic gave organizations the opportunity to recognize and acknowledge the individuals at every level that make those partnerships work. The picnic was truly a community event with each organization talking about how they have utilized the partnerships they have formed.

The Director of the Western Colorado Conservation Corps, Jeff Roberts got up and spoke about the partnership we had formed between the WCCC and the Bureau of Reclamation. Jeff Introduced Melissa Werkmeister from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and talked about the upcoming project with her. Working with the Tamarisk Coalition, the WCCC acquired a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation to provide chainsaw’s to thin out trees on the BOR’s property and help with wildlife habitat restoration. We are looking forward to the future of this partnership and the projects to come.
