Oh Be Joyful

The small mountain town of Crested Butte Colorado has much to offer, from skiing and mountain biking to hiking and whitewater boating. The Oh Be Joyful Campground Managed by the BLM is a popular spot for anybody visiting the area and is becoming even more popular.

With increased visits to the area, LNT becomes essential to maintain the campground. So the BLM asked the WCCC to do some work at the Oh Be Joyful campsite, putting in new fire rings where previous campers had developed rock rings. the crew also put in new campsite posts, marking where established campsites are, and built picnic tables. lastly, the crew placed new boundary posts to prevent vehicles from parking in areas where they should not.

While there was a lot of work to be done cleaning up the campground and installing new structures, the crew also had plenty of work across the Slate River, where the campground is located, bucking up previously felled trees. The crew had to ferry across the river in a raft with chainsaws so they could cut and stack the downed timber.

As always the crew enjoys a good meal at the end of the day. This night they enjoyed fajitas!

The BLM was happy with the work we did and we were happy to work with the BLM and look forward to working with them again in the future!
